Ethically Sourced
Environmental stewardship and social impact remain top of mind at all times. While we are not yet satisfied and are thus constantly working to improve our supply chain, Kumbatia is able to offer some of the region’s most responsibly-sourced seafood by:
Partnering with community-based conservancies and NGOs to convert illegal fishermen into legal fishermen and always ensure that our harvest methods yield little bycatch, effectively target non-juvenile species, and do minimal damage to coral reefs, seagrass beds, and mangrove ecosystems
Transforming small-scale incomes by paying our fishermen and dealers prices that are often well above market rate, subsidizing and/or financing approved fishing gear at 0% interest, and offering inputs at reduced rates (fuel and bait) or for free (ice and coolers) at all times
Using an in-house traceability app as well as Wholechain to ensure every piece of seafood we offer is traceable
Dedicated in-house data and M&E team to aggregate and synthesize impact metrics at all times so we can constantly track and improve upon our social and environmental impact

Supply Chain Visibility: All shipments are insured and sent with TIVE trackers for temperature, ambient light, humidity, and GPS monitoring, and vacuum sealed products are sent with TTI strips
